One band, one Purpose
The name Vertical Alignment came from the pages of the yet to be published fantasy / sci-fi novel “Joseph’s Dream.” In the story, the Eldest of Arbor discovered a method of aligning with their ancient Home which was now so far away. Through a combination of Starsailer technology and the Song, they are able to realign themselves in such a way that they become totally invisible to the mortal world of Arbor. In this state of vertical alignment, they can again hear the Song which is forever Sung by the Recreated. Can vertical alignment save the planet Arbor from a cruel and untimely fate?
We believe that there is much more to what we call “music” than any mortal has yet reckoned. The earliest Hebrew refers to this organization of sound into melody and harmony. It is simply termed “Song.” Millennia later the Greeks reinvented this glorious gift by weaving cleverly crafted tales. They told of sister goddesses who presided over this organization of sound and, indeed, over all things creative. The glorious gift was given a name that honored not God, but imaginary goddesses known as the Muses. From that time until the present, the glorious ordering of sound that was the Song has been known as music.
We understand that the term “music” has moved millennia beyond imaginary goddesses. It is impossible to talk about what we do and not use the word. Yet even today, we hear musicians crediting “their Muse” in achieving a new level of creativity. We desire to acknowledge only one Source for the Song, the Creator Himself. It is He who has gifted us with creativity. It is from Him that this creativity flows.
The name Vertical Alignment is a revelation of what we see as a much higher purpose for music. We desire the Song to go forth in the original creative power and majesty that God wrought. We believe that such music will always point the way back home to a loving Father; to the Very Son of God. Music can win battles and stop foes if we truly reckon its power.
Vertical Alignment desires to be a city set on a hill, a light in a dark time, and a voice of true Truth. We will use the gift that the Lord has given us to point the way to Him, showing the signposts along this path of life. It is our prayer that we will meet you all when we see Him Face to face.
