Peter J
Peter J by Charleston Harbor, SC
Peter J is the founder of Vertical Alignment and has been the main force behind the band for the last nine years. He does the majority of composing, instrumentation, and arranging of the group’s music. He plays guitar, keyboards, Cherokee flute, and performs both lead and background vocals. In addition to writing the music for VA, he has also written one background novel, “Generations of the Eagle,” and has two more in progress.
Pete enjoys the music writing activities and has helped to release three CD’s and two singles of all original music. VA has three more CD’s in progress, two of them double releases. Pete’s center for this activity is his studio in the Charleston, SC area.
Pete has been active in music for some time. Beginning as a singer/songwriter, he later began a band with his wife. The Omega Band was a short lived phenomenon and Pete retreated back into singer/songwriter mode for several years. After a move to northern South Carolina, Pete began the art rock band Tabernacle which played locally and released one single. After that band, Pete started another. Ground Zero enjoyed a small bit of local success and played for venues in both North and South Carolina as well as Georgia. They released one album, “Ground Zero EP.” Material from the band was later remastered into a new release, “The Rolling Away.” In the same time, Peter J began developing his progressive rock sound and also released “Peter J EP” which has recently been expanded into a rerelease, “Coming Home.” Pete has also played with a number of church bands including the MorningStar Band under Leonard Jones (Vision.)
In addition to his work with Vertical Alignment, Pete is also working with a new recording project named Ancient Fire. He continues to write new music and sees no end in sight. Pete especially enjoys the many and varied collaborations he participates in with accomplished musicians from across America.
